  • Grant applications due Aug 30

  • First board meeting Sept 6

The Whitman High School Education Foundation (WHSEF) is an independent non-profit organization that raises funds annually to support projects that enrich the intellectual, social and physical experience of students and staff at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, Maryland.

The WHSEF volunteer board collaborates with the Whitman staff, and student and parent leadership, to identify unmet technology, program, facility, equipment, and professional development needs of the school. In addition, the WHSEF makes an annual donation to support specific initiatives at Wheaton High School, Whitman's sister school.

In 2015-16, the foundation received 48 grant requests and approved 40, channeling all net proceeds into funding.

WHSEF also hosts the annual “Dedication to Education“ Social, which brings together hundreds of Whitman parents, teachers, staff and community members for an evening of celebration.

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. Throughout the year WHSEF provides grants to fund items that help meet its goal of funding unmet needs, maintaining excellence, and building community support.
WHSEF is pleased to announce that it approved funding to extend the media center’s hours after school for the first semester.  The media center will remain open until 4 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and close at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.  The exact start date for extended hours will be announced shortly.

"Whitman simply would not be the same school without your support. One key partnership is through Whitman’s Education Foundation.  Grants from WHSEF have enhanced the overall instructional program in numerous ways over the years, providing state-of the art technology, extended media center hours, program support, and professional development for teachers.  In addition, WHSEF has made important facilities improvements. .Your assistance makes a difference."
